National Novel Writers Month – Novel Challenge – Chapter 1

The proud father smiled as he watched his daughter sleeping peacefully on the bed. Her breathing was calming and rhythmic and put him at ease. He sighed as he thought about all the toils and trials he had been through to get to this point. God had been good to him and blessed him with this beautiful child and cleared out all the thorns in the thicket of life.

He left her room and went to the refridgerator to get something to drink. The smell of the KFC chicken wafted through the air and made his stomach growl. He took out a couple of pieces of chicken and a biscuit and sat down and put in a DVD movie. He ate the chicken and watched the movie.
