After years of setbacks and negative distractions, I have finally done something I wanted to do for a long time; publish a book of poetry.
My first venture into the publishing arena is called “God is in Control“. In it you will find poems that will uplift you and caress your soul and let you know that those troubles you’re going through will not last forever. The enemy doesn’t want you to succeed, but with God you WILL succeed.

God is in Control
I hope this book meets your expectations and helps you in some way. Share it with a friend or co-worker. We all need encouragement from time to time and this resource is the perfect solution. I appreciate any and all support you can give. This will help me get past my current situation so I can provide a better life for my daughter Ashleigh. Help me so I can help many others.
Thank you and may God bless each and every one of my readers and followers.
Sincerely,
Joseph R. Mays

Most of us have now learned to live with voice mail as a necessary part of our lives. Have you ever wondered what it would be like if God decided to install voice mail? Imagine praying and hearing the following:
Thank you for calling Heaven
For English press 1
Para un Espanol mecar el dos
For all other languages press 3
Please select one of the following options:
Press 1 for request
Press 2 for thanksgiving
Press 3 for complaints
Press 4 for all others
I’m sorry, all of our Angels and Saints are busy helping other sinners right now.
However, your prayer is very important to us and we will answer it in the order it was received.
Please stay on the line.
If you would like to speak to:
God, press 1
Jesus, press 2
To the Holy Spirit, press 3
To find a loved one that has been assigned to Heaven press 4, then enter the social security number followed by the # sign. If you receive a negative response, please hang up and dial 666.
For reservations to heaven, please enter John: followed by the numbers 3:16.
For answers to nagging questions about dinosaurs, life and other planets, please wait until you arrive in heaven for specifics.
Our computer shows that you have already prayed for today, please hang up and call again tomorrow.
The office is now closed for the weekend to observe a religious holiday.
If you are calling after hours and need emergency assistance, please contact your local pastor.
Thank you and have a heavenly day.
Good-bye.

Enough happiness to keep you sweet
Enough trials to keep you strong
Enough sorrow to keep you human
Enough hope to keep you happy
Enough success to keep you eager
Enough friends to give you comfort
Enough wealth to meet your needs
Enough enthusiasm to look forward to
Enough faith to banish depression
Enough determination to make each day better than yesterday

May You Have an Appreciation of the Beautiful Things in Nature
Yours in inspirational reading,
Joseph R. Mays

Through this toilsome world,
Alas once and only once shall I pass.
If a kindness I may show,
If a good deed I may do,
to a suffering fellow man,
Let me do it while I can.
For it is plain,
I shall not pass this way again.

The proud father smiled as he watched his daughter sleeping peacefully on the bed. Her breathing was calming and rhythmic and put him at ease. He sighed as he thought about all the toils and trials he had been through to get to this point. God had been good to him and blessed him with this beautiful child and cleared out all the thorns in the thicket of life.
He left her room and went to the refridgerator to get something to drink. The smell of the KFC chicken wafted through the air and made his stomach growl. He took out a couple of pieces of chicken and a biscuit and sat down and put in a DVD movie. He ate the chicken and watched the movie. He had watched the movie (War of Worlds with Tom Cruise) many times, but he never tired of seeing the amazing effects in the movie. After the movie was over, he proceeded to lay down and get some sleep.
He awoke during the night to a loud banging outside his window. A street light fixture had fallen into the street from the strong winds howling outside. He returned to bed and went back to sleep. He dreamed about the day he would get a better house for his daughter and her first day of school. A smile flashed across his face as he dreamed and morning came several hours later.
He woke up in the morning with a slight headache, but otherwise rested. He took some Aleve to ease the pain of the headache. He prepared breakfast and fed himself and his daughter. She laughed as she drank her juice. Her calls for “daddy” were met with a warm smile from her father. He had a proud smile on his face and told her what a pretty girl she was. “You are a beautiful girl”. “You are such a pretty girl”. She smiled back with a look that would melt any heart. Even the Grinch would have to give in.
He cleaned up the dishes and put them away and proceeded to clean the house. He took a look at what had to be done for the day wrote the tasks down on paper. He put the clothes in the washing machine and dried the ones that had already been washed. He folded the clothes that were in the dryer and put them away.
The phone rang loudly in the back room. It was a customer calling about an order. “May I help you?”, he replied. A female responded “Yes, I’d like to order a catalog.” “Where can I send this catalog, mam?” She proceeded to tell him her address and he wrotee down her name and placed the order. He thanked her for calling and hung up.
He left out to go to the Post Office to mail out a catalog to the customer. The fresh air felt good on his face and invigorated his senses. He felt refreshed and rejuvenated. The air was cool and crisp. The sun was high in the afternoon sky. It was
