T D Jakes was the Guest of Honor at First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Upper Marlboro, Maryland

January 11, 2009 · 3 Comments

On Friday January 9, 2009, in Upper Marlboro, Maryland hosted a very popular icon in the gospel world. First Baptist Church of Glenarden is led by Pastor John K. Jenkins, Sr. and First Lady Trina Jenkins. They hosted a revival January 7-9, 2009. Bishop TD Jakes, the world renowned minister was the headliner for the night along with Mary Mary. It was a special night for all those who attended this service. The overflow areas were full. It was truly “standing room only”. Singing, presentation of the gospel and a preview of Bishop TD Jakes movie “” were some of the events that took place. The Holy Ghost was definitely present in the church as everyone prayed for peace, betterment and forgiveness of sins. Traffic was stopped from entering the road to the church as their capacity had been reached. I was lucky enough to be on the last busload of people to get in. I had to be there. I would not have missed it for anything in the world. :-) CeCe Winans sang on Wednesday. She has a popular single called “Waging War”. Bishop Alfred A. Owens, Jr. and Co-Pastor Susie C. Owens from Greater Mount Calvary Holy Baptist Church co-ministered in show of cross-denominational unity. God is there for you whether you are Jewish, Christian, Baptist, Catholic or Protestant to name a few. We are ALL God’s children. Judge not lest ye be judged by the ultimate judge; God The Father.

TD Jakes charismatic style mixed in with humor every now and then makes him very popular among his followers. He operates which has a following of approximately 10,000 worshipers and is broadcast on cable on Sundays. They are based out of Dallas, Texas and welcome everyone to come and worship with them when they are in the Dallas area. I first saw him several years ago on TV. He was preaching about faith and used a wheelbarrow full of mustard seeds as his prop. He took one seed and held it up and said that if you have the size of a grain of mustard seed you can still make it. God just wants us to believe in him.

Pastor John K. Jenkins, Sr. and First Lady Trina Jenkins welcome you to for worship services.

Yours in spiritual uplifting, :-)

January 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment

On Saturday January 10, 2009, the NFL showcased their NFC Divisional game between the and the . In a surprising show of football domination, the NFC West Division Champion handily defeated the by a score of 33-13.

Most teams that come from the west coast and endure the time change do not usually win on the road on the East Coast. That was a big point that was played out in the news before they played.

At half-time the were up by a score of 27-7. They went on to get two field goals. They had the game in hand at that point. The scored a touchdown in the waning moments of the game to give them 13 points on the day. They missed the extra point attempt.

The will face the winner of the and game already in progress. At the moment, it looks like it may be a NFC “Battle of the Birds” ( and ).
